Bead Blogger Round up

I have one more day off from work. It’s been nice being away from the office for over a week now. Last week I was away in Florida and then the long 4 day holiday weekend after that. I wish I didn’t have to go back. I’ll have to be sure to make it count, tomorrow.

I really have been enjoying my time in the studio making pretty things. Here is a photo of one of the necklaces I created this morning. An asymmetrical, this and that necklace with some art beads, some stones, so of this, some of that.
My mind is blank for an appropriate title!

More Design Boards

We went to Anthropologie on Wednesday during our little Bead Date, and I got the itch to do a few more of these cute design boards, using some of Anthropologies’ outfits, and my jewelry- which always seem to go hand in hand! Warning: This may make you want to go shopping!

A Beady Date with some Beady Friends

Check out this nice little slide show I created with the pictures from our day on Wednesday. Lisa Petrillo of Lucid Moon Studio, and Layne Dasher  of Layne Dasher Jewelry, came over to my B&B and we jetted off to a few of the local bead shops in Orlando. The first one, was not so great. The second one, The Bead Bar, was a real gem!! I got some great stuff, as you’ll see if some of the last photos in the slide show. They had a nice selection of semi precious stone strands, and lots of Czech glass that was all 20% off that day! I loved that the shop didn’t have a million “loose” beads. I would much rather buy a strand, and I think it’s probably a lot cheaper to do it this way.

From there we went to this huge Millenia Mall, did a small amount of shopping, and then went for dinner at this cool restuarant  called Crave. You’ll see my Macaroni and Truffle/Gruyere Sauce entre that I had. It was so decadent!! We enjoyed some really awesome conversation about everything Beads, Etsy, Family, IN-laws!, Copycatters, art beads, techniques, our favorite bead shopping sites, you name it! We covered every topic!!

If you ever have a chance to travel and get to meet someone you know in this nice friendly beading community, like I did this past week- I definitely recommend it. There is jusxt nothing better than getting together with women that share your own interests! I come to find out, that all three of us, don’t really have local beading friends- and so we really relished the fact that we were able to spend some time together. It would have been nice if we had even been able to go to each of their studios and maybe do some beading too.  Hopefully, on the next trip!!

Bead Soup Arrived!

My partner in this round of the Bead Soup Swap, is Marianna Boylan of Star Girl Jewelry! I received Marianna’s package as soon as I got back from Florida today and I am thrilled at the ingredients!! Marianna stuck with a color theme of a nice ocean blue color. She sent along one of her handmade ceramic Tree pendants, some of her own lampwork lentils, a few blueberry quartz beads, a small strand of pearls, some large Turquoise beads, and a cool Bali silver toggle clasp.  I can’t wait to get started on this project!
Check out Marianna’s Blog, where she shows a little teaser of the beads I sent to her.
Tune in the week of June 19th to see what all of the participants of the Bead Soup swap made with their swapped goodies!

kiss me hello

I am feeling
lucky
in love with my home, which i will see soon
in love with my husband, who I will kiss soon
fortunate for a job that allows me to travel
fortunate for my good health
lucky to have such fabulous online friends, and not-so-online friends.

but I am also feeling nervous for a flight
and anxious about my husband’s health
hopeful to try to start a new healthful routine
refreshed.

see you when I get home.

Meeting new friends

Kelley, Me, Laurie
What a blast I had last night! I met up with Laurie Whitney of Mermaid Glass, and she brought along another friend, Kelley Kirk who also sells on Etsy at Gongy and Squish! Two girls, intelligent, crafty and FUN- we all got along smashingly and I can imagine we would be quite the team of 3 if I lived a bit closer.
We chatted about Etsy, and blogging, and crazy Etsy experiences. But also talked about our families and their kids, and one question that sticks out in my head, that Laurie asked me last night is, “How do you do it all, work, blogging, updating your shop, promoting your shop! How do you do it all!” And all I could say was ” I don’t have kids!” It makes a big difference. I really don’t know how I could continue at this caliber if I had children. It’ll happen eventually, and we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it- but it just made me realize that this probably won’t last forever, so I am going to enjoy the hell out of it while I can!

I am looking forward to my beady date this afternoon with Lisa and Layne. I think we’ll have a blast- I will absolutely photograph the occasion.

Hope you’re all having a great and creative week! Stay Cool!

New Clasps from a Favorite

Go give Heather Wynn some Etsy love!

Relisted again

Good Morning!!
I had listed these lovely Lavender earrings  last week, and sold them the day I listed them. The buyer never paid for them, so I had to cancel the sale and I am relisting them in the shop today. I made some similar to this back for the earring swap. I think Rosanne picked them. I wonder how she’s liking them….

Got a full day of work ahead of me. Looking forward to this evening, I think if it works out, I’ll be getting together with lampwork artist Laurie Whitney of Mermaid Glass! She lives about 20 minutes from Orlando! Laurie makes beautiful glass beads, I would love to see her studio and the places that influence her work!

Then tomorrow, I am getting together with Layne Dasher and Lisa Petrillo for some bead shopping, and dinner. Can’t wait for that! I hope that we can find some good bead shops that carry some unique goodies.

Hope you’re  having a great week! Stay Cool!
