New Years Evedom

No big New Years Eve plans. Just chillin’ at home with my love with some Chinese take-out, watch a little tv. Probably to bed even before midnight. I know, we are so lame. But it’s just not worth it to go out. Every year it seems like the weather this night, gets worse and worse. So not only are you battling the snow, but also battling against other drunk drivers on the road. No thanks!
I’m thankful for a day off tomorrow. YESSS! And then back to work for one more day.
I worked on a few pieces last night, that I listed this morning on Etsy.

I feel badly that I’m ignoring my 1000 Markets shop. I don’t know why. It’s not intentional. I’m bummed that I’ve only made one sale. Maybe it’s that Amazon Payments thing that people are afraid of. Maybe paypal is just more convenient for shoppers.
I’ll give you a deal. Purchase something from my 1000 Markets shop The Owls Den, and I’ll send along an extra goody with your purchase. Could be one of three types of jewelry. You just never know!!

Title of Blog Post goes HERE

I had such a great day yesterday, staying home, beading, sitting around in my pj’s most of the day! But SNAP! I’m back to reality today as I look out the window and see all the neighbor’s garbage cans floating around the road, the gusty winds, the fine freezing snow blowing around. Yes. I must drive through this to get to work today. Really looking forward to THAT! I’m slowly reverting back into my bead paradise in my head. I received some beads yesterday from Sue Kennedy (SUE BEADS) Sue and I traded beads for jewelry. I sent her the chunky necklace from the Collaboration. Remember this?

Sue sent me 2 sets of her lovely etched lamp work glass beads. They are absolutely gorgeous! I may have to keep them a while, look at them and fondle them, every once in a while. So pretty, I don’t know how I could use them!

Last night as I was watching an episode of Friday Night Lights on my laptop in the studio, I created a bracelet using a couple of Teal green multi-hole links that Lynn Davis sent me from a blog giveaway. As soon as I saw them, I knew that I wanted to use brass chain. I wanted to use them as multi-strand connectors. Coming up with a clasp solution was the toughest part of this bracelet. It’s a little long, and would have to be altered but you get the general idea.

After a bit of a chat online with my friend Nancy, I was inspired by her love of rabbits, and created this simple long necklace using a handmade carved Ojime rabbit bead. I thought of Nancy when I bought this bead.

He’s such a cute little bunny. But looks a bit devious too. I am hoping the charms I attached below him don’t really look like the rabbit is pooping them. 😉 No getting around that I’m afraid, due to the hole placement.

Hope everyone enjoys their Tuesday!

Better Late than never!

bracelets galore!

I just spent the first half of my day beading like a maniac! Maybe I’m trying to overcompensate for being away from my beads for so long! 😉 I was feeling especially creative and got quite a bit accomplished. A few designs that have been brewing in my head while I was away for the holidays, came to fruition this morning. I am quite happy with how they all turned out. This bracelet is my favorite – piece de resistance! Fun and colorful, I incorporated some neat lamp work glass rings from Blue Seraphim. I hand-forged the hook clasp and twirled some brass wire. Each section is curved a bit so that it fits comfortably on the wrist.

I also created this bracelet using Gaea Cannaday’s ceramic swirly hook clasp. I added a ceramic Golem Studios bead among the ebony wood beads. A chunky substanstial piece that looks and feels great when worn.
I wanted to play with some beads that I had gotten from Andrew Thornton in the Artist Trading Card trade that I participated in a month ago. Read more about the trade here! Andrew sent me some of these pretty opalescent glass beads and paired with the purple and aqua, they come to life! I used a Vintaj Brass Co. lily connector as the focal.
I’ll be listing some more pretties in my shop this afternoon. Look out for several pair of earrings, a necklace, and a few bracelets. I won’t be adding them as NEW, but instead using older inactive listings so take a look throughout the shop to see the newbies!

Emee Shop Update

I updated my Momma’s apron shop today. She gave me some Full Length reversible aprons while I was home this weekend. They are all super cute and really functional! But really cute! That’s the ticket! Check them out!

Mom gave me my own personal apron and tote bag for Christmas. I love them so much. The fabrics are adorable. I found the fabrics at FabricSupplies on Etsy. She’s located in Albany NY which is nice and close and therefore ships quickly. My sister got an apron and tote also. Thanks Momma!

Saturday- Christmas No. 2

Santa’s visit (Santa=Joe)

Hoping everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We had a lovely time in Connecticut. Today we are jetting off again to my Momma’s house for the day. Looking forward to gifts, giving and receiving, and a homemade turkey dinner! Thought I would share a few pics with you before I go.And of course when I got home from being away for 3 days, I needed to bead a little- get it out of my system for another day. Here is a bracelet that I created. I am listing it on Etsy now. I love how it turned out. The different colors of metal work well together with the softness of the ribbon. And Green Girl Studios pewter heart Think of Me charm, finishes the piece off perfectly by adding a bit of feminine charm.

Happy Christmas day!

I’m curious. Is anyone enjoying/feeding my fish?—————————————>

A nice long day of gifts, a movie, dinner at the Chinese Buffet, dessert with family…and now we are decompressing in our pj’s. Tomorrow morning we head back home. Then Saturday morning we travel to my mom’s to do it all over again!
One thing is for sure. I have eaten entirely too much this holiday. Which is quite unfortunate because I was actually feeling like I had been doing well and had noticed that I really have lost a few pounds recently. I’m planning some new years resolutions this year, for a change.
I’d like to get into a regular exercise routine. I’m thinking of yoga or some ball exercises with some videos.

One thing that you can look forward to, this coming New Year is a big BIG Trade that I will be working on. I don’t want to blow the surprise but it’s going to be big. And fun. And memorable. And you don’t want to miss it. So stay tuned for that.

I’m also looking forward to this upcoming year because of a few publications that will be featuring some of my work. It’s a very very exciting prospect for me to think about seeing my name in print. I can’t wait to be able to talk more about it. I have some projects I will be working on too that will end up in some exciting upcoming publications. I could jump up and down I’m so psyched!

I think this weekend, probably Sunday I am going to try to do some housecleaning in my Etsy Shops. Any ideas? Stuff you’d like to see? Stuff you’d like to see go? Sales you might like to see? i am hoping to work on some new jewelry for the shop this upcoming week. I’m looking forward to the new Stringing magazine that will be coming out on the stands on Tuesday.

Well that’s it for me, for today. G’night!
and Have a Merry Christmas and an upcoming ROCKIN’ New Year!

My wishlist for Santa

Hello!
Greetings from upstate Connecticut. I am at my mother-in-laws, curled up on the couch with my coffee, in my jammies…. surfing the net on my laptop- I figured, might as well blog!!
We came into town last night. When we arrived, we had to babysit my sister-in-law’s kids Max and Alexandra for a few hours. We had a fun time with the kids (who were surprisingly very well-behaved) We colored, Alex combed and put pretties in my hair, we played some video games on the computer. There was only one major accident when Alex fell on the stairs when she missed one step and went flat down on her face. There was crying. I panicked. But we worked through it and the crying didn’t last as long as I thought it might, and there was a small moment when I thought to myself- “hey, I might be able to do this someday”. no, not babysit…but have kids.

Tonight we having the family over. Joe will dress up as Santa for the kids. It’s very exciting and a bit nerve-wracking. Max is 5-1/2 years old and we are waiting for the day when he realizes Santa is really uncle Joe. 😉
Midnight Mass is on the schedule for tonight but I’m not sure it’ll happen. Tomorrow we’ll do Christmas morning at my sister-in-law’s. Then we (me, Joe, my mother in law, and a friend of hers) will head to our annual Matinee… I think we’ll see Marley & Me, or Benjamin Buttons, or 7 lbs. (anyone who has reviews of any of these, leave a comment!)

Thought I would share some of the things I’m asking Santa for this year. There is a never-ending list of things on Etsy. I can surf for a matter of minutes and always find something that I want. It’s a wonder that I make any money on Etsy selling jewelry. Most of my cash goes back to other Etsy sellers!

Small Hiatus

Happy Holidays! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours was pretty good. Yesterday was a busy day. I made cookies, Joe painted the upstairs bathroom. It went from an awful lavender purple, to a nice neutral Khaki. I also did loads and loads of laundry. We are headed out of town tomorrow morning for Connecticut for Christmas. I’ll be back Friday for a one night stay home, and then we are headed to my parents for two more Christmases. *sigh* I had some time alone last night in the studio and made a few pieces to list this morning.

Until I get back, hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and that all of your Christmas wishes come true!

Sunday- a photo diary entry

Happy Holidays to all of my blog readers. Remember, Free shipping ends on Thursday. I’ll be blogging Monday but then we will be out of town til Friday. I’ll have my laptop so I can stay in the loop.
🙂

Avoid the mall shoppers. Don’t do it. seriously.

Here’s what the past 26 hours entailed.

12/19: 5:30-6pm Nailbiting ride through the snowstorm 30 min. to the Christmas party

12/19: 6pm-11pm Christmas party where I drank 2 Whiskey sours and 6 glasses of wine. (surprisingly enough, not totally hung over) and danced so much that I managed to get a blister on the bottom of my big toe and my knees hurt so much that I almost fell down the stairs this morning after I got out of bed.

12/20 7:30am-10am woke up, drank many many cups of coffee, played Return to Ravenhearst until I got completely stuck and agitated, showered

10am- 1:30pm- Braved the mall like a complete idiot but the trick was to repeat this in my head the whole time: Stay Calm, Carry On. Bought 3/4 of what’s left of our Christmas shopping.

1:30-2pm- ate lunch – first meal of the day, and was famished. 2pm-3:30pm- Wrapped all gifts, tags and ribbons and all.

3:30pm- 4pm- laundry, lunch clean up, bathroom clean up

4:20-6:30- Went to the movies with my friend and saw Four Christmases. Pretty funny movie, definitely recommended.

6:30-7:30- pizza

Yesterday I finished this gift (hopefully the receiver is not reading this blog): I also made this bracelet and this pair of earrings:

I also made this necklace: Today in the mail I received 2 more gifts from Laurie at Old School Acres- hopefully the recipients aren’t reading this blog as well) done. til tomorrow. adios amigos.
