Here is a better picture of Bubo. And also another RED hot bracelet that I just listed in my shop.
It’s got lots of great artisans’ lampwork and pewter in it!

This sweet bracelet is my very own! Awesome Lampwork glass beads from Cindy Hoo and Green Girl Studio’s BUBO OWL… handmade sterling clasp is also from Cindy. And the jump rings too! It’s a goodie!

Tuesday Jan. 29

This is my newest pretty that I just listed in the shop. Also this morning I signed up on TalentDatabase.com. You can see my profile (Lorelei) and I am starting to download some pics into my Portfolio there. Kind of cool website if you have a chance to check it out.
Lola of The Lola Collection told me about it. She also has a portfolio on that site.
I got some awesome goodies yesterday from my good friend Cindy Hoo. I will be photographing them and posting them later on tonight. She custom made some silver bangles for me and a few other cool goodies!
More later! Ta Ta!

Monday Morning

Well I made this awesome charm necklace last night, but my photos turned out horrible. As soon as I get daylight out there, I’ll take new ones and post them. I like the color combination though and the little owl is so darn cute!
I have such fascination with owls these days. My interests like that change so fast, like first it was Moose, and then it was cardinals, and then dragonflies, and then birds of any species, and now owls!
WACKY!
This little guy is in the mail on it’s way to my house now as we speak! HOW CUTE IS HE?? He was hand-made by Etsy artisan OldSchoolAcres
Have a great day, ya’all!

HAPPY Sunday! Jan. 27

The COOLEST news from the weekend: I did an interview for the Art Bead Scene Blog!
Watch for it on the site sometime soon!

I thought I would show off some of MY Etsy purchases from the week…
First of all, I made a trade this weekend with Robyn from Robayre
for this beautiful framed yo-yo s
quare. The colors are perfect for the new family room (it’s teal blue)

Then I bought these buttons in hopes of using them somehow in a bracelet that I have planned. They were handmade by Nancy from RoundRabbit.
She has LOTS of great items that I want in her shop, she is soooo talented! Check her out for SURE! AND she spends every weekend at a booth at the Syracuse Fairgrounds. One of these days I’ll make it up there, for that! I’ll have to make sure I bring a wad of cash though!
I was surfing around in my favorites and came across Humblebeads, who I have never bought from before but I have always coveted her polymer clay beads, and goodies. So I purchased one of these cool tube beads, in hopes of making something great for the February Art Bead Scene Challenge. (Hope it’s Valentine’s related!)

January Art Bead Scene Challenge: Ice Storm

Here it is. Keep your fingers crossed!

Friday! Jan. 25

As I promised to Libby, one of my only devoted readers, I am posting about my studio today. I transformed our smallest spare bedroom into a studio when we moved into our new house in September. This room is tiny but fits a small day bed, and 2 work tables just fine. What normally happens is my Cat Marley ends up coming in to harrass me but she found a nice spot to stay out of the way, last night while I worked away at my main submittal to the Art Bead Scene Monthly Challenge necklace.

So here is my table and the work in progress. I’ve laid out all the elements I want to use in my piece and now begins the fun part. You’ll have to check back in to see photos of ICE STORM, I will be posting them later today. Suspenseful, I know. I planned it that way, to keep you coming back!

Artisan Feature Number 1 : CINDY HOO

Metalwork artist, Jewelry Designer, Lamp- Work Glass Artist

1) Tell me as much or as little about yourself as you feel comfortable with… I live in a small mountain community in Northern California located in the Sierra nevada foothills surrounded by wildlife. A couple of years ago I lost my job as a corporate contract administrator with a major health insurance company due to off shore outsourcing (India). Using my last pay check & severence I purchased everything needed for a lampwork glass and metal fabrication studio ranging from torches,a kiln, rolling mill, drill press to the 4×3 foot redwood stump located in the middle of the shop that I use for forging silver. I also love working with Pottery and got a potters wheel last summer. That’s for another day though :0). To sum it all up I took a negative situation and turned it into something not only therapeutic but rewarding. I go to work in my shop every day with my best friend “Simes” (husky/shepherd)at my side listen to good acoustic music while I do “my thing.”

2) What inspires you? My inspiration is drawn from nature, the smells of sage brush after a rain, the Red shouldered hawk that flys over our property every day, wind, the Sierras, leaves, trees, the Pacific coast and the colors of wildflowers. Also life situations have been an inspiration. Being happy or sad, I grow from each situation which guides me to even better horizons.

3) How would you describe your craft and style? Asymetrical, rustic and organic.

4) How long have you been creating? I’ve been creating since I was very small. When I was in elementary school I would take blue, white and green play dough and make heishe beads with a straw then poke holes in them letting them dry then I’d string them and sell them to my friends and neighbors. I also used to get into my dads tackle box and sneak all his tiny swivels and add colorful seed beads to them and made anklets.

5) Is this a job or a hobby? This used to be just for fun but now it’s a job that brings pure bliss to my life. Women used to want to buy jewelry right off of me so I started taking orders. Pretty soon I was selling in local boutiques, today my work is represented to shops throughout northern California and Nevada.

6) What are your Etsy goals? My biggest goal is to become successful and financially stable as well as maintain a good reputation.

7) What advice do you have for fellow Etsians My advise is for the new Etsians: “Hang in there”!
